Friday, March 12, 2010

We have completed twenty-seven weeks of school! Today is the 128th day. We are already eight weeks into the third quarter. The time has flown by. Easter will be here before you know it.

We are still plugging away with our curriculum. In our language arts book we have begun week three of theme eight (Down on the Farm). We've added the alphafriend for X, and are reviewing some of the ones we have already focused on (S, M, R, T, B, N, H, V, C, P, G, L, K, Q, D, Z and F). We have covered the high frequency words I, see, my, like, to, and, go, is, here have, for, said, the & a. We are continuing to have spelling tests. We have begun building words that contain the short a, i, and o. In math, we've worked on the fewest and most, ordinal numbers, making groups of objects that contain a given number, as well as continued working on positional words. We've started working with addition and subtraction as well as telling time, and money (nickels and pennies). We are working on the "wood and paper" unit in science. We've finished the social studies unit entitled "Workers" and are moving into the unit entitled "Where We Live."

Our spelling words for next week are: bad, Dad (needs to be capitalized), had, lad, mad, pad, sad, was, and but. The sentence is: Dad was sad.

On Monday, I will be sending home the blue folders for the kids which need to be signed and returned on Tuesday. Remember to return library books. I will also be sending home homework which will continue to be due on Friday. The practice materials can be left at home. All that needs to be returned to school is the actual homework in the blue folder.
